front666TRANSITION COLLECTIVE and EPIC PRODUCTIONS present ‘Kubrick’s Lift’
7pm – 2am | 22nd May | @ EPIC, Dalston, N16 8BH

Here comes a transitionary summer of love.

TRANSITION COLLECTIVE invite you to a night of art and music exploring love, risk and community – at EPIC, Dalston’s newest and biggest venue, and in association with SoulCloud and The Imaginary Beings.

Blood delivers necessary nutrients and oxygen to the cells and transports metabolic waste products away from those same cells. The ardent truth. Don’t capture rapture. Uncage pulsating hearts. Savour saliva rushes. Open your arms. Follow lines that link, souls that reach. The flesh that sinks and sucks. The twisted melt. The hunger stroke. The psychic bleed. The human strawberry slick. The flirt. The score. The hit. Broken eggs and spilt milk. Filthy sheets, velvet lips, roses, violets. Waxy limbs and wide eyes. The penetrating stare. The unity, community, the interplanetary soup. Take Kubrick’s Lift into the stratosphere.

Taking us to the next level in the cold breath of morning, our artists transition from the Tobacco Dock blaze to the cool heights of 2 Clove Crescent, East India Dock. A month long exhibition giving the Winter Pride artists a luxury showcase in this iconic multi-level location.

The inaugural Winter Pride UK launched at Tobacco Dock on Saturday 8th February 2014. This historic event featured an art competition for emerging artists, the Winter Pride UK Art Awards 2014, and a breathtaking exhibition of installation art and sculpture from a diverse group of international artists, now showing at East India Dock.

Caitlin Mavrolean, the Creative Director behind the annual Art for Youth exhibition at the Royal College of Art, has given the Winter Pride artists the opportunity to exhibit as part of a large new experimental group show entitled Office Sessions in a vast disused office block.

The Winter Pride artists will inject moments of colour and passion into the eerie hide-and-seek corporate stillness. An exhibition curated by Simon Tarrant and Yvette Blackwood, taking over the whole of the 4th floor. A brave new Eden. Adult playgrounds and abandonment. Separation and togetherness. Love and longing. Pride and prejudice. Madness and majesty. Seek out secret performances in hidden rooms.Take a second bite of the apple.

Winter_Pride_2014_logo.5.1Baby, it’s cold outside… Get ready for Winter Pride UK on 8 February 2014!

Hidden in an underground maze of Victorian warehouse vaults in east London lies a winter paradise. Step over the cobblestones of London’s Tobacco Docks, and be transported back in time to a forbidden Victorian marketplace and funfair, full of tattoos, fire, art and music for one night only.

TRANSITION COLLECTIVE have been invited to participate in London’s first ever Winter Pride! The TC artists will create a large scale installation at the heart of this awe inspiring venue, explore an affront to Narnia. The flipside of a contained delusion of dubious intent. The roles we play with each and every day, the grey area between fiction and reality. The elements, colours, shapes and sounds we choose to heighten and express our inner child, our inner goddess, our inner king, our inner queen, our inner beast. The fantasy made real, to the max. Who are you? Why do you do what you do? How are you writing the story of your life? What are the mythologies from your past that shape you today, what do you bury, what do you honour, what do you warp into wondrous disguises? What twists and turns you underground, overground, through secret passages and ejector seats. One door closes another opens. Mirror mirror on the wall…

A development from last January’s exhibition Con:FRONT. Journeys, achievements, inspirations from then to now, bite narrative flashes.

From the confrontation to the transcendence. Peaks of emotion, orgasmic limbo, trapped nerves, phobic crescendo, the excess of success, burst barriers held before you in glorious stopped motion. Celebrate the high, the adrenalin, the gut reaction, moments of triumph captured and distorted.

From birth, to bloom, to animal experience, to discovery, intellectual exploration and expansion, mental and physical exertion, euphoria.

Live music night 24th August featuring

Aven Zirself + Wei Lou from 8pm

Introverts from 9pm

Open 24th August – 2nd September

A new exhibition. In the trail blaze of the Olympics, TC presents an alternative exploration of the spectator and the spectated.

Metal bars, metal hearts. The stage, the cage. Icons and swooners. Looking in, looking out. Break free, break loose, break out. The explicit and the censored. Wild, fierce, primitive, waiting, watching. The performance, the captivity. The prisoner, the keeper. The hunter and the hunted. Persecution, rebellion. Yearning, dreaming, living. Uniform, frippery, trappings, regalia, warpaint. Hoops, stunts, showdowns. Beauty, mortality, broken mirrors. Traditional roleplay, modern life. The expectation, the anticlimax. Control, submission, freedom. The beast within, mass consumerism, mutation. Branding, subculture, the fall of man.

Participating artists:

Aven Zirself | Benedict Romain | Bruno Jamaica | Celia Arias | Chanyanuch Hongsongtham Jessica Kilpatrck | Louise Seijen ten Hoorn | International Nobody | Introverts | Jack Gobsmob | Lyndsay Martin | Miguel Ivorra | Red Pig Flower | Ting-An Lin | Vinny Montag | Wei Lou
